Your ‘action shots’ will help get over-50s moving

Whether it’s the local Men’s Shed group, gardeners, Saturday morning walkers or even the brave cold-water dippers, there are so many ways that our over 50s are staying active across the ABC Borough.

To build upon this positive energy, we are calling on anyone who is keeping active on a regular basis, to share a photo of their favourite activity to help inspire others to get moving.

The Southern Trust in partnership with local councils (including ABC Council) has launched a ‘Movement for Life’ competition to capture and celebrate positive images of over 50s being active. And the winning photographs will be used to form a Trust-wide campaign which will raise awareness of the many physical and mental health benefits of staying active as we get older.

Participants are also asked to provide a quote explaining why ‘moving matters to me’. The competition is running throughout the month of May and a number of entries have already been submitted.

So if you’re heading out on your daily dander, hitting the fairway or getting stuck into the flowerbeds, then stop for a quick snap and you could help inspire others to get moving and change lives for the better.

Please return images and quotes to by Friday 31 May 2024.

For further info on how to enter the competition visit the South Trust website – https://southerntrust.hscni.net/your-health/health-improvement/physical-activity/  or phone Wendy on 028 3756 6175.
