Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough, Cllr Sarah Duffy joined students and staff at the Southern Regional College in Armagh for their successful Big Spring Clean event.

Students and staff from the Southern Regional College in Armagh donned their hi-vis jackets and hit the streets with their litter pickers last week, as part of their Big Spring Clean event.

It is hoped the efforts of the students will inspire more volunteers to give their support to the community clean-up events which are being organised by our local schools, sports clubs, community and church groups.

Smaller groups of family and friends can also organise their very own litter pick events, as part of the Big Spring Clean Campaign which is run by Live Here Love Here, with the support of Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council.

As part of this partnership, the Council provide litter pickers, gloves, bags and hi-vis vests and waste collected on the day can be disposed of in household bins or clean-up organisers can arrange collection of the waste in advance of the event by calling their local Council depot.

Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough, Cllr Sarah Duffy said: “Congratulations to the students and staff at the Southern Regional College in Armagh for their successful Big Spring Clean event.

“As a council we are delighted to be able to provide whatever support we can to those people who organise the Big Spring Clean events and I would like to thank each and every person who gets involved. As well as helping the environment and wildlife, getting outdoors and connecting with people is brilliant for our mental and physical health.”
