Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council continues to support local hospitality and tourism businesses with today’s launch of a series of fully funded Skills Focus training initiatives.

The council’s Tourism, Arts & Culture team, in conjunction with the Southern Regional College (SRC) Business Support and Innovation team, has launched a three-week programme in Food Safety and Customer Care.

Under the Skills Focus programme, eligible businesses will have the opportunity to develop the skills of their existing workforce with accredited qualifications at Level 2 and above delivered by SRC. The full cost of the training is subsidised.

The Food Safety Level 2 programme enables learners to obtain knowledge and understanding of the importance food safety and hygiene, food safety hazards, good hygiene practices and controls and food safety management systems. It is regarded by the Food Standards Agency as being important to the understanding and maintaining good practice in the handling, processing and preparation of safe food and is recommended for all food handlers.

The Customer Service Level 2 programme is an interactive and engaging experience for staff covering customer needs and managing expectations, applying customer service within your organisation, communication skills to improve the customer experience and planning for professional development.

The training programme will be held at convenient venues across the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon borough and tailored to business needs, based on industry feedback.
