Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough (ABC) Council confirms repair works to the Ferry Cycle Bridge in Maghery will take place on Thursday 24 June until Monday 28 June 2021 – resulting in limited access for bridge users.
The planned maintenance will include repairs to the ramp at the Mid Ulster District Council side and improvements to the condition of the pathway that leads to the slipway on the ABC Council side.
These enhancements will help improve the bridge’s accessibility, ensuring the safety for all its users. Full access to the area is due to be restored on Tuesday 29 June 2021.
The improvement works – which will be carried out by Gibson Bros Ltd. – are an immediate action from a recent virtual meeting between ABC Council and Mid Ulster District Council regarding the bridge. As it connects both council areas, the neighbouring local authorities agreed to maintain the bridge and the ramps on both sides.
The online meeting also saw the agreement to consider a medium to long-term maintenance plan. A further meeting is planned for the autumn this year.
