Do you know someone who is committed to helping keep Northern Ireland’s roads safe? Or a group that deserves recognition through their road safety work?
Maybe a lollipop person, a school group, a business, the emergency services, a community group – the unsung heroes who play a part in keeping everyone as safe as possible.
If so, then make sure to nominate them for the Northern Ireland Road Safety Awards. These awards were launched recently, kick-starting a nationwide nomination call for those who deserve recognition for their contribution in helping to reduce the number of injuries and deaths on our roads.
Now in their ninth year, these awards are organised by the Road Safe NI Charity along with accident management firm CRASH Services as the headline sponsor.
A total of 14 categories are on offer and awards will be presented to individuals, businesses, educational institutions and community groups who have demonstrated a commitment to keeping Northern Ireland’s roads safe.
The categories are as follows: primary schools, secondary schools, lollipop person, driving instructor, emergency services person, voluntary sector, open category, LGV/PCV sector, public sector, business sector, young driver, two wheels, transport manager and lifetime achievement.
Clive Bowles, Chairman of the ABC Road Safety Committee commented, “We are delighted to support this event once again and would like to encourage nominees from the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon area to recognise the hard work and commitment that goes into helping keep our roads safe.”
Chairperson of the Policing and Community Safety Partnership, Councillor Clare McConville-Walker said, “These awards are a fantastic way to recognise those in our council area that work tirelessly to keep people safe on our roads. I would really encourage everyone to take some time to look through the variety of categories and get nominating those incredible people!”
Kim Nixon from local business Traynors, who are sponsoring the primary school category, added, “I am aware that there are many pupils and teachers that go that extra mile to keep their pupils safe and we are delighted to recognise this remarkable commitment by sponsoring this award. We can’t wait to see all of the nominations!”
