What a superb spectacle of sound and colour the UK Pipe Band Championships 2022 held in Lurgan Park on Saturday 11 June turned out to be. Whilst the weather proved to be a mix of sun and heavy downpours it certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of all the bands and visitors to the park.
Organised by the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, the competition featured hundreds of players, including the best local pipers from varying competition grades ranging from juvenile right up to Grade One, along with drum majors and highland dancers.
Visitors had the rare opportunity to see world-class bands competing for the coveted championship title and enjoy music from a range of talented players, including Irish and Northern Irish bands and Scottish bands.
