Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council recently officially opened Kingston Memorial Play Park after a massive £100,000 investment.

And local school children from The Drelincourt School and Armstrong Primary School were delighted to be invited along to enjoy some time away from the classroom and experience the wonderful new park!

Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Alderman Glenn Barr also enjoyed checking out the new equipment and officially opening the park!

“What another great opening for another wonderful play park – even the little bit of rain couldn’t dampen our spirits!” commented the Lord Mayor. “We know just how important the investment in this play park is and that the community will take full advantage of it by getting outside and enjoying some play in the fresh air.”

Eileen Trew, Principal at The Drelincourt School was delighted to bring some children down to the official opening! “Our little children watched the park being redeveloped every day and could hardly wait until we were able to take them. Many of the children go every day after school with their families, and they were very excited to attend the ceremony.

“It was also the same day that we marked World Mental Health Day, so it was very fitting to celebrate the wonderful play park facilities which bring such mental health benefit to our young children.”

The £100,000 investment is part of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s £4.75m Play Strategy 2018-2026. The eight-year strategy puts ABC Council at the forefront of health, recreation and leisure in Northern Ireland, actively championing play to help improve understanding of its critical importance to children and young people.

Farrans were the lead contractor for the works while sub-contractor Garden Escapes – a specialist playground equipment company – supplied and installed the new equipment.
