Taking up running for the first time or making a return after a lengthy break, can feel like a scary prospect – but with the right support and guidance from a team of coaches, it’s mission possible on the ABC Council’s spring running programmes!
The eight-week Couch to 5k programme will commence from Monday 15 April at the following locations and times:
- The Mall, Armagh: Every Monday and Wednesday at 6.30pm
- Solitude Park, Banbridge: Every Monday and Wednesday at 6.30pm
- Portadown Peoples Park: Every Monday and Wednesday at 6.30pm
- Lurgan Park: Every Tuesday and Friday, 10am
At a cost of £32, participants will receive two coached sessions from qualified instructors each week and complete a third weekly session by themselves, as well as pick up a t-shirt and medal upon completion of the course.
The seven-week ‘run from 5k-10k’ training programme is designed for those who wish to challenge themselves, culminating in the Craigavon Lakes 10k Run on 5 June. At a cost of £32, this programme will take place at Lurgan Park each Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30pm, kicking off Tuesday 16 April.
For those who prefer the freedom of doing the programme at a time and place that’s convenient to you and at no cost, we have virtual options for both the Couch to 5k and 5k–10k programmes. You will also receive weekly training plans, tips and inspirational messages from our qualified instructors to keep the motivation going.
With the Craigavon Lakes 10k and 5k Races just around the corner, these programmes offer the perfect opportunity for runners to put their training to the test, set some personal bests and have some fun at the same time!
