Council has launched a range of free programmes offering accredited training, work placements, and guaranteed job prospects with local employers.

The programmes have been organised by the Labour Market Partnership, which creates targeted employment action plans for council areas, are funded by the Department for Communities, and allow for collaboration at local and regional level to support people towards and into work.

The council’s dedication to fostering economic growth and individual success is evident in the variety of opportunities now available. Programmes include reskilling for individuals aged over 50, classroom assistant training, and an employer-led initiative to support career progression for those already in employment.

There are also programmes offering free training in health and safety, food hygiene and manual handling, to help boost participants CVs.

Each programme will be delivered in collaboration with local partners such as People 1st, Global Education NI Ltd, and Stepping Stones.

Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough, Councillor Sarah Duffy, commented:

“Our borough’s success relies on the strength and potential of its people. That’s why we are deeply committed to creating and promoting opportunities that help our residents not just find jobs but build careers they can be proud of. With a strong focus on collaboration, innovation, and inclusion, the council remains steadfast in its mission to make career progression a reality for all.”

Last year’s local LMP programmes saw 250 people complete sector specific programmes with 135 people gaining paid employment, as well as 230 local employers involved in the programmes.

Whether you’re looking to reskill, start something new, or advance in your current role, the LMP programmes are there to help you achieve your goals.
