Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council is offering individuals and community groups within the borough an opportunity to avail of a free level one Makaton training course.
Running over two sessions from 6pm to 9pm on Thursday 3 February and Thursday 10 February 2022, the online training sessions are aimed at parents, family members, carers and workers who need to use Makaton at home and in their work as well as participants who need a more detailed knowledge about using and applying Makaton to develop the communication skills of others.
Providing a practical introduction to the Makaton Language Programme, sessions will include discussing commonly asked questions, hints and tips for effective signing and symbol use and how to start using Makaton in everyday situations at home or work to name a few.
Spaces will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis and a reserve list will be held.
This training is a collaboration between council’s Community Development department and The Executive Office.
