The Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Community Planning Strategic Partnership is conducting a mid-point review of Connected: A Community Plan for ABC 2017-2030. The review is designed to ensure that the plan still aligns with the borough’s aspirations, considering significant social, economic and environmental changes since its development.
To obtain as many views as possible from residents, community groups and businesses a public consultation was launched on Monday, 7 October, at the Celebration Event for ABC Community Planning Partnership’s Tak£500+ PB project. The online consultation will remain open until 12 January 2025, and a number of consultation workshops will also take place across the borough during this time.
Speaking at the launch Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Councillor Sarah Duffy said: “The council and its partners are dedicated to continuous community consultation and engagement; therefore, we are seeking as many people as possible to participate in shaping the future of our community over the next five years”.
Members of the Community Planning Partnership have dedicated considerable time to examining the long-term outcomes and population indicators outlined, introducing fresh ideas that have ignited conversations within the partnership. This process has highlighted the need for additional public consultation to confirm that the plan continues to meet local community needs.
Colette Rogers, Chair, Community Planning Strategic Partnership, added: “It is important that we review the community plan at this midway point to ensure that it still outlines the long-term vision for our local community. This plan serves as the main framework for the borough, aiming to enhance social, economic and environmental well-being while connecting local government community plans with the new Programme for Government as a model for funding and investment”.
