Unite the Union (Trade Union) has notified Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council of industrial action following a ballot of their Armagh depot members. This will impact on bin collection services in the Armagh area.

The industrial strike will commence on Wednesday 17th July for a period of two weeks, on the following days:

  • Wednesday 17 July to Friday 19 July 2024
  • Monday 22 July to Friday 26 July 2024
  • Monday 29 & Tuesday 30 July 2024.

This is an extremely disappointing course of action resulting in service disruption to household waste collection services across the Armagh area.

The council strongly refute allegations that any member of staff would be subject to any detriment as a result of or relating to Trade Union membership or activities.

We remain fully committed to engaging with Unite to discuss and explore resolution, while following agreed policies and procedures.

We apologise for the disruption and regret the inconvenience this will cause to residents across the Armagh area.

We apologise for the current service disruption. If your bin has not been collected, we advise that it will be collected on your next scheduled fortnightly collection.
