There’s lots going on across the borough this May bank holiday weekend! Here’s a quick round-up of things to do with family and friends:

South Lake Watersports

South Lake Watersports activity days are back (Mon 6 & 27 May)! With kayaking, paddleboarding, archery, climbing and cycling, there’s plenty to keep you entertained on and off the water. The watersports hire options for bicycles, kayaks, canoes and paddleboards and the ‘Junior Learn to Paddle Day’ (Sun 5 May) are also a great way to boost your skills and confidence on land and lake! Sunday concert at Scarva Bandstand

FE McWilliam Gallery & Studio

‘Tada!’ An Exhibition by children for children lines the exhibition space of the FE McWilliam Gallery, Banbridge (until 25 May). This fun exhibition showcases work planned, undertaken and curated by children. Or get creative and try your hand the Beginners Modern Calligraphy Workshop (Sat 4 May) – suitable for complete beginners and provides an introduction to modern calligraphy. You will learn how to use a pointed nib and ink, working through warm-up exercises, practising letterforms and joining up letters. Click here to find out more.

Explore archaeology and history about Navan, the earliest capital of Ulster and the ancient seat of kings. Join Eimear Fox, a designer and textile artist from Co Down for the Festival Flame: A Craft Workshop for Beltaine (Sun 5 May). Create your own sacred flame of Beltaine in this embroidery workshop – create and take home the symbolic flame of the third great festival of the Celtic Calendar.
