The increasingly popular running programme is starting up again this September, with local communities able to take part either in person or virtually.
Suitable for all ages and fitness levels, Couch to 5K is ideal for people who have never run before and would like to become more active by gradually building up their stamina and working towards the goal of being able to run 5K.
Starting on Monday 12 September, Couch to 5K will be delivered at The Mall in Armagh every Monday and Wednesday morning from 10.30am to 11.15am.
Another course commencing on Tuesday 13 September will be delivered in Portadown Peoples Park every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6.45pm to 7.30pm.
Both programmes will run for eight weeks and cost £32. Participants will receive two coached sessions from qualified instructors every week and will complete a third weekly session by themselves. Participants on the in-person programme will receive a T-shirt and a medal upon completion of the course.
Participants also have the option of doing the course virtually, giving them the freedom and flexibility to build up their fitness while working around their own schedule. Virtual Couch to 5K starts on Monday 12 September and is free.
Participants will be able to follow the programme by themselves but still receive weekly training plans, tips and inspirational messages from qualified instructors.
Participants are encouraged to buddy up with a family member or friend so that they can support one another throughout. At the end of the eight weeks, all participants will be able to complete a 5K Parkrun.
