We are proud to announce that Tannaghmore Rare Breeds Animal Farm’s Park Sarah has just been graded as a Grade 1 Filly by the Connemara Pony Breeders’ Society.
Sarah was taken to Greenacres Equestrian Centre in Donegal were she was inspected by a panel from the Connemara Pony Breeders’ Society. Ponies are checked by a Vet and judged against the Breed Standard for conformation and in hand gait.
Staff at the Farm have been working with Sarah over the past few months to get her ready for her inspection. She has had to learn to walk on a bridle, trot within a specific pattern and of course plenty of washing and grooming. All the hard work by the staff and Sarah paid off with Sarah receiving Grade 1 Filly status.
Gifted to the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council farm by the Irish National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) Park Sarah is a direct descendant of the Connemara Ponies bestowed to the President of Ireland in 1974 and then the NPWS in 1980, and as such represents a piece of living history. Native to Ireland, Connemara Ponies are characterised by their hard-working, intelligent nature and gentle temperament.
