Get a fascinating insight into one of Ireland’s most significant and transformative historical periods – the revolutionary years of 1912-1925 – on Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s free Decade of Commemorations Programme.
Part of ABC Council’s PEACE IV Programme, the free initiative will see Dr Donal McAnallen and a range of expert guest speakers deliver a 10-week online series of talks and lecturers on Ireland and the revolutionary decade.
Participants will be guided back in time to unpick and explore the defining impact key historical events such as the Home Rule crisis and the First World War had on Ireland and the people. The online series of talks and lectures will examine the social and political change that took place during this hugely unstable and volatile period in Irish history and the factors that subsequently led to the Government of Ireland Act and the partition of Ireland.
With a lens on local people, the course will also consider the social impact of the Great War and the revolutionary period on contemporary communities in counties Armagh and Down.
The online series is open to all residents in the borough of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon and will commence on Tuesday 9 February 2021 at 7pm.
Led by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, the PEACE IV Programme will see the delivery of an inspiring and engaging programme of activities, project and initiatives across the borough, helping bring people and communities together.
