Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Sorcha McGeown recently hosted a civic reception for members of Banbridge Boxing Club who competed at the All-Ireland Boxing Championships. Among those to be congratulated were Isaac Ireland (B2 35kgs Gold medallist), Paige Nickels (G4 49kg Gold medallist), Bryan Ward (B3 48kg Gold medallist) and Tyler Lee (72kg Silver medallist). The young boxers were joined by Club President Martin Casey, Secretary Anne Murphy and Coaches Leah Nickels, Geoffrey Stevenson, Jason McKay, Martin Foy and Dean Shaw as well as family members. Also in attendance were Alderman Mark Baxter, Councillor Kevin Savage and Councillor Chris McCartan.
